The Minority Art Exhibition held on August 20th brought local African American and Latin American artists to the forefront of the Richmond art community. Art enthusiasts and, some of Richmond’s political elite, gathered in Metro Space Gallery, where the art provoked inspiration for some, and investment for others.

From left to right: Artists Langston Tupponce, Inga Maria, and marketing assistant Thearny Sim, discuss Inga Maria's Fool's Gold.
MAE showcased spectacular works of art by Keith Ramsey, Langston Tupponce, Inga Maria, Ray Oyola, Jason Ford, and Mauricio Patarroyo. Keith Ramsey presented a powerful body of work titled “ Diluted Loss,” which displayed racial injustices of the black soldiers of WWII. Inga Maria intrigued patrons with her organic, mixed media table titled “ Fool’s Gold.” Jason Ford’s portrait of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, was a favorite among attendees. Mauricio Patarroyo’s piece “Por Favor,” acrylic on a skateboard, showed a versatile style of medium. And, art by the late James Clarke III, emanated the struggles of blacks through history.

In attendance, Joyce Clarke, survivor of the late James E. Clarke III (featured artist), studies art by Inga Maria.
MAE also held a silent art auction. Artist Khaldun Oliver donated a painting titled “MAE Day for Freedom House.” Jonathan Mayo of Avail Marketing purchased the piece. Mayo graciously donated the painting back to Freedom House as a gesture of support.
Clarke Art Consulting thanks all of our supporters including Urban Views Weekly, Thinking of You Creations, and Freedom House.
